History of Horizons

Horizons National began in 1964 with a focus on enrichment for low income students who typically regressed in the summer months.  Through the decades, Horizons traditions evolved to inspire children  to continue learning through the summer months.  For more information visit the Horizons National.

Horizons at Kennesaw State University
Affiliate of Horizons Atlanta

The length of our summer learning program is six-weeks of full day attendance. The structure of Horizons is built on the following:
  • improving literacy and math skills
  • creating lasting relationships
  • using project-based learning strategies
  • integrating learning among content areas
  • introducing new environments and experiences
  • teaching all students to swim
  • offering student/family support for years
